How to setup and use Dashlane Password Manager

Dashlane is a convenient solution to manage your passwords and you can easily set it up to start enjoying the advantages that it offers. The first thing you need to do is to go to the website and click on the option that says “Get Dashlane – It’s free”. Then you need to run the installation wizard to proceed.

Then allow some time for the files to download. Once they have been downloaded, create a new account.

For the account creation, you will have to enter your email address and select a Master Password. In order to ensure the security of your data, Dashlane has some guidelines to make your password safe. In addition, the master login credential is not stored at all. This is good from a privacy point of view, but it means that you need to make sure that you won’t forget the password, otherwise, you won’t be able to access the rest of your password.

In the next step, you will be asked to integrate Dashlane into your browser. The application will identify your default browser and will continue according to it.

The program will ask if you want to add the relevant extension. You can agree by simply clicking on “Add extension”. Once that is done, you can start using your new password manager.

Using Dashlane

After setting up the main program, Dashlane will automatically launch onto the Password screen. If you have enabled your password to save them automatically on your behalf, you will probably see some passwords and sites saved here.

After that, you can save additional passwords manually or get them from a variety of different file types like CSV files, or from a different password manager.

After you have entered the passwords in the way you selected, you will be able to access and manage them easily from the main client.

When you click on any of the passwords, you will see two options. You can click on the option on the left to be directed and automatically logged in to the website you want. If you click on the option on the right, you will have the chance to edit your password. You can copy the password, or the username, delete it and more.

Apart from storing password, Dashlane can also be used to keep notes, personal information and financial details secure. This is a convenient way to keep all the information that you may be asked for when you register on a website. It is possible to click on the IDs tab to save details from your driving license, passport and other documents.

After Dashlane has been populated with all the information that you want to save, there is a feature that you definitely need to check: Security Dashboard. This is a type of scoring system that examines your login details to let you know if they are strong enough. Security Dashboard will also tell you which passwords are duplicates of others that are already in use, or if you haven’t changed your passwords for a long time. Furthermore, it will let you known if the passwords are related to a website that has been compromised. You will get notifications about any possible issues and will be able to immediately replace the passwords that are vulnerable.
